The “A. Carrara” municipal library

The “A. Carrara” municipal library, located in the centre of the town, offers you many books on loan and wide spaces to study and get together. Study, reading and consultation rooms make this place the most important cultural institution, the place of generation meetings where children, citizens and families choose to get and grow up together.
For all these reasons, this library truly represents a point of reference on the territory and for the neighboring towns, thanks to its many services, its quality and its various activities. As a matter of fact, during the year, the library organizes activities for readers, such as “Born for read and grow up as readers”, language courses, weekly meetings for books and english lovers and information literacy courses. This library is also involved in the guided tours of Altopascio and in the reception of the pilgrims walking on the Via Francigena. There are many initiatives in order to promote reading and different municipalities (SiBIPLUNET- the library system of Lucca) take part in them. In relation to the peculiarities of the individual libraries, the activities are developed on different levels of depth and the reading projects are processed in different modules and themes, for children and adults. The range of bibliographic and cultural proposals, guided tours, didactic reading workshops and meetings with authors is a permanent service.
