The “two-days” party (on Saturday and Sunday) takes place in September
In September Altopascio fills up with the smell of freshly baked bread, music under the stars and tradition. The Bread Party shows, for an entire weekend of events, the hospitality of Altopascio, which is the main stop of the Via Francigena where the pilgrims used to be refreshed with a special bread rich in proteins, made with raisins and dried fruit. You can find the same bread, in an extra-large version, in the main square during the closure of this weekend, and people share it as a collective snack. A true moment of aggregation which provides gluten-free options too, thanks to the collaboration of gluten-free food companies of Altopascio.
You can take a walk around the centre of the town while you taste a good freshly-baked piece of bread or focaccia, stop at one of the food stands to try and buy some quality products, have lunch or dinner downtown in one of local restaurants and pubs, take part to one of the collateral activities, attend the historical re-enactment of grain processing, lose yourself in the beauty of the historic centre and, as soon as evening falls, you can go wild dancing under the stars to the music in the main square: enjoy the party!
